At WWDC 2024, Apple made the formal announcement of iOS 18, the company's next significant software update that would be available for the finest iPhones later this year.
Significant updates are on the way for popular iPhone apps including Mail, Messages, Photos, Maps, and Wallet. Additionally, Apple's new Apple Intelligence feature suite will bring brand-new AI capabilities to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max alone.
The main iOS 18 features that were revealed at WWDC 2024 are listed below, along with the iPhone models that will be able to run the new firmware.
Apple stated that iOS 18 will release "later this year" at WWDC 2024. Given historical trends, it is quite probable that the upcoming update will start to roll out around mid-September 2024 (since iOS 6, all major releases have started to roll out between September 13 and September 20).
The official release of iOS 18 is probably going to happen at the same time as the iPhone 16 series and the Apple Watch 10. However, the first iOS 18 beta is currently available for download by members of Apple's Developer Programme (here's how to download the iOS 18 beta on your iPhone).
The greatest and biggest features of iOS 18, as confirmed by Apple at WWDC 2024, are listed below, along with a few other features that have been revealed in the initial beta versions of the operating system. As previously noted, during the same event, Apple also hinted to a number of Apple Intelligence capabilities; however, a summary of those resources may be found in a separate site.
